1. NO FOOD (CRISIS)

/MINIMAL FOOD OPTIONS
Okay, serious stuff first. Let's be real, if you have no food everyone is going to dip. You need to have a wide selection of foods so everyone can be happy and munch away. A good way to make sure there's a lot of food, and variety, is to have a potluck!
/SERVING MESSY FOOD
Everyone is already self-conscious about themselves, so why make it worse and serve some messy brownies? Yes, yes, they might be tasty, but the fear of chocolate teeth and crumbles falling everywhere is too real. Save it for later.
/FOOD IN ONE LOCATION
So this is a common mistake... You stack all the food on one table and all your guests fight to fill up their plate. If you move some stuff around, like having bowls of chips and salsa at different 'hang out' spots around your event, everyone will be happy. Plus, you get a little workout in if you run out and need to get some more food. Win/win baby. 💪
2. BAD DRINKS

/NOT EVERYONE WANTS THE PUNCH
Well... for obvious reasons, the punch may not be the best option for everyone. It's good to have a wide variety of drinks. Some sodas, energy drinks, water, and oh yeah... the alcohol (*cough *cough for all those over 21 folks).
/MARKERS GO A LONG WAY
If you're gonna have a lot of guests, you NEED markers. Accidentally drinking Janet's drink is a NO CAN DO. So let your guests mark their cups with their name so everyone is square. Plus, drawing fun things and writing jokes on people's cups is always fun and a good way to make people laugh - good party.
3. NOBODY SHOWED UP

/ONLY A COUPLE GUESTS SHOWED
Well unfortunately, this has happened to everyone at least once. If you invited 100 people and only 2 or 3 of your closest friends show up... not all is lost. IT'S TIME TO TURN THIS PARTY AROUND. You have all the food and TV to yourself, so throw on some Just Dance and eat all the pizza. Actually.... you might want to eat first, digest a little, and then go to the hardcore dancing.
4. BAD DJ

/NO COOL DANCE LIGHTS
We've all been to a concert and checked out those 'super rad' lightshows. You're hoping your DJ brings this to your party... and then you're rudely interrupted with their #basic lighting setup. A couple $20 disco balls and a little Halloween strobe light. Ain't nobody gonna be dancing to those.
/NO REQUESTS
Lame. It's your party and people wanna hear the music they want to dance to. So a 'no requests allowed' DJ is gonna be a huge bust to your party.
/TAKES REQUESTS BUT DOESN'T PLAY THEM
This just rude. You and your friends have requested 5 different songs and NONE OF THEM HAVE BEEN PLAYED. Like who is this guy?? Why should I waste my time writing a song name on a paper just to have it be thrown in the trash. Not cool bro.
5. NO CONVERSATION

/NO SPARKS
Everyone's just kind chilling on the sofa looking around waiting for someone to say something. Awkward af. Best option for you to rectify this problem is to (a) start up a conversation - and not the standard 'how was your weekend?' - or (b) get a game started to naturally spark conversations.
/TV LOUD AF
Okay so if your TV is too loud... people aren't going to yell to talk to eachother. So grab that remote and lower it down so people can still hear it, but they won't have to walk home with a sore throat.
Those we're 5 things that will make your party go bust. I really hope you enjoyed reading this post! Hopefully, this will help you make your next party awesome!
